Creating a Discount Type Promotion

This help article guides you through creating a discount-type promotion. It explains how to set up promotions by specifying discounts, adding eligible products, and activating the promotion.

STEP 1: Access the Promotion Setup

1. From the Manager Dashboard, select Manage Promotions and then Add Promotion
   
   Note: Ensure you are in the correct location and pricelist before creating the promotion.

STEP 2: Fill in Promotion Details

1. Name: Give your promotion an internal name (not visible to customers).

2. Show Under Category (optional): Create a virtual category name for sale items to be displayed on the product page.

3. Start Date & End Date: Set the time frame for the promotion.

4. Max Promotion Uses: Enter “0” for unlimited uses.

5. Click Create once these fields are complete.

STEP 3: Define the Item Group

1. Click Add Items Group 

STEP 4: Fill in Item Group fields:

1. Fill in the following fields on the Group page:

   • Name: Internal name for the item group (not visible to customers).

   • Show in Subcategory (optional): Name of a subcategory if desired.

   • Promotion Type: Select Discount.

   • Discount Units: Choose between Dollar or Percent

   • Discount Value: How much to reduce from the original item price.

   • Eligibility Quantity: Determines the number of items that must be purchased to receive the deal. Set to “0” for no quantity minimum. If an eligibility quantity is entered, this will also trigger the option to apply in increments. 

   • Apply in Increments Only: If set to Yes, the deal will only activate once the customer adds items to their cart in multiples of this quantity. Example: If a deal has an Eligibility Quantity of 2 and Apply in Increments Only is Yes, the deal would apply only when the item is purchased in multiples of 2.

   • Max Uses per Item & Max Uses per Order (optional): Set a limit per item/order or enter “0” for unlimited.

2. Once done, click Create 

Step 5: Add Products to the Promotion

1. Click Select Items and choose the items to be discounted. When an item is selected, it will be highlighted in green with a checkmark, and the promotional price will display, calculated based on the discount value set on the Group page.

2. To review, click View Selected to make any necessary adjustments, or click Back to return to the Group page.

3. Once all items have been added, click Save, then Back to return to the Promotion page.

Note: A confirmation message won’t appear, but once the Save button is greyed out, the discount has been successfully saved.

Step 6: Activate the Promotion

1. When ready, click Activate to enable the promotion. The status of the promotion will switch from Inactive to Ongoing. The promotion will automatically start and end on the set start and end dates. 

2. To make additional item groups, repeat Steps 3-4.

3. Finally, visit your store’s Product page to verify that the promotion is live and displayed as expected.
